Cascina Merlata School Complex, Milan

Cascina Merlata school complex is a new concept of school, where traditional classrooms are integrated by different kind of gardens, designed ad hoc to support kids learning. Nature is deeply connected and integrated into the school life.This allows children to learn better in an happy and safe place doing different type of activities.

The concept of the school like an ‘Eden garden’ intends to give continuity to the educational space through the connection of internal and external spaces, in a process that mix traditional school learning and outside games. Three different grade of school - kindergarden, prymary and secondary - are divided, but still mantain a visual relation through transparent glass walls separa- ting the common spaces, that are located in the heart of the school complex.
